How do I connect to my Philips Avent Connected Baby Camera?
Published on 14 February 2025
Read the following guidelines to learn how to connect to your Philips Avent Connected Baby Camera.
Which type(s) of Wi-Fi router is the Philips Avent Connected Baby Camera compatible with?
- The Philips Avent Connected Baby Camera is compatible with any 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi router, and it is the only spectrum that the product is compatible with at this time.
- The 2.4GHz frequency band gives the best experience with the Philips Avent Connected Baby Camera since 2.4GHz Wi-Fi provides network coverage to a larger area and penetrates solid objects better, making it ideal for multi-room scenarios and at larger distances from the router.
- Most modern routers support two frequency bands, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. The routers broadcast either separate Wi-Fi networks for the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands or one Wi-Fi network that uses both bands. You can easily see the SSIDs that are broadcast on your smartphone. If you see two similar SSIDs (Wi-Fi network names) on your smartphone, you most likely have separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. If you only see one SSID, your router most likely broadcasts both bands on the same network. If you have an Android phone, you can install Wi-Fi analyzer apps to scan your networks.
- If your router broadcasts separate Wi-Fi networks for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, make sure you use the 2.4 GHz network. You can distinguish the 2.4 GHz network by looking at the SSID. Routers typically create two Wi-Fi networks with numbers indicating which band each one uses. You might see something like “xxx 2.4GHz” and “xxx 5GHz” in the list of available networks. Or, if your router allows you to choose your own SSIDs, it is advised to choose them such that you can easily identify the 2.4 GHz network.
- If you see only one network, most likely both bands are broadcast on the same network. The Philips Avent Connected Baby Camera will automatically use the 2.4 GHz network.
Does the Philips Avent Connected Baby Camera work without Wi-Fi?
No, the Philips Avent Connected Baby Camera requires a Wi-Fi network connection. It is compatible with any 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi router.
Do I need to pair the baby camera and the Philips Avent Baby Monitor+ app again if I wish to connect the baby camera to another mobile device?
Only one administrator account is authorized to be used with the baby camera, so pairing is only needed once for the administrator account. However, it is possible to connect the baby camera to someone else’s mobile phone.
If you wish to share the same access with someone else, please use the same administrator account to log in to the App. Setting up the App on another device with a different login account will automatically disconnect the previously connected user.
If you do not wish for the other person to have full access rights, please invite them to log in as a guest user. There are certain rights/limitations for a guest user. Guest accounts cannot access push notifications, modify the account, or make voice recordings.
