I got very good service support from Philips when my electric iron failed. I think that's what make Philips a brand of my choice. However one advice to Philips Quality dept. - "The product should not fail so fast. Needs tighter control on Quality". However full marks to their service team.

Excellent product, easy to use & heavy built, strong

It is heavier than normal philips iron but due to rich features product is very good. Power plug is 15 amp due to 2300W which I feel happy to see the power safety point of view.

Pros: One does not need to wet clothes, even linen, to iron them properly. in fact, this iron works better with clothes that are absolutely dry. Cons: Needs a 15 Amp power outlet. I need to also get a 15 Amp extension cord since the outlet is some distance away. Not very easy with very thin material Ilike a dupatta). Tends to roll up as you iron. But otherwise, it's an excellent iron.

I bought the Philips GC 2048 ( 2300 W) about two years back and went to the authorized service station in Gurgaon, Haryana for replacement of power cord which had short circuit. To my surprise the Center checked and offered a 16 AMP power cord with bigger power plug for Rs. 1700. when I told them the cost was very high compared to the Iron itself, they then offered me to buy the smaller one for Rs. 300, which was equivalent and was safe to use, which was however not available at that time and I will have to leave it with them for replacement. Accordingly I left my iron and they assured me that when the cord becomes available they will replace and deliver the iron at home. However, when I returned and met the seller of the Iron, I was told by the Philips dealer, from whom I purchased the Iron that the smaller cord was unsuitable for the Iron and will burn out soon and I should onlu use 16 AMP cord. I don't know a) how the service center has such difference in rates for the two power cords and how can they offer the smaller plug cord which is not safe to use and not suitable for the 2300W Iron. Request technical advise for the issue.

It has a bad quality cord, which rubs against clothes and wall leaving black stains of rubber braided on the sheath. Poor design. Wonder who can replace the cord, I'm even willing to pay for it.

The thermostat became defective within 1.5 year. The defect came within a short period.

This developed a fault very early. However, it was rectified by the service centre in two attempts.

two days back purchased GC 2048 steam iron instead of seeing earlier poor performance reviews. it has really over heating problem. excessive heating damage garments even I turn down regulator in its minimum position. dont know how such "brand one" company released such a worst product with high price. Don't go with brand value, go with product performance only.
