How to descale my Philips Coffee Maker?

Published on 20 July 2023
It is important to descale your Philips Coffee Maker regularly to ensure optimal brewing results. Below you can find detailed instructions on how you can do this.

Note: To descale the coffee maker, you can use any liquid descaler or use white household vinegar (4% acetic acid). We advise you not to use powder descalers or descaling tablets as they could harm the inside of your coffee maker.

Descaling the coffee maker

  1. Fill the water tank with white vinegar. Put a paper filter in the filter holder to collect the scale
  2. Switch on the machine
  3. Let it brew until the water tank is empty then switch off the machine and let it cool down for 3 minutes
  4. Empty the jug and remove the paper filter
  5. Fill the water tank with fresh cold water
  6. Switch on the machine
  7. Let it brew until the water tank is empty then switch off the machine and let it cool down for 3 minutes
  8. Repeat step 5-7 for two more times until the water in the jug no longer tastes or smells like vinegar.
  9. Clean all the parts in a dishwasher or with some liquid soap.
