Philips and Narayana Institute of Cardiac Sciences Celebrate First Year Milestone of ELiTE Program with Over 200 Clinicians Trained

Bengaluru, India: Philips, a global leader in health technology, and Narayana Institute of Cardiac Sciences (NICS), one of India's premier cardiac care institutions, celebrated the one-year milestone of the launch of first-of-its-kind and the only dedicated Center of Excellence (CoE) for Echocardiography training in the country. This center offers clinicians the ELiTE (Experience Learning and Training in Echocardiography) course, an experiential offline training program for Echocardiography. Developed under the expert guidance of Dr. Satish Govind, a luminary in the field of non-invasive cardiology, ELiTE program has successfully upskilled 200 healthcare professionals including cardiologists, physicians, intensivists, and sonographers over a span of 136 training hours.

Led by highly qualified faculties, the two-day training program combines exposure to the latest technologies in Echocardiography with hands-on workshops, which enables clinicians to tap into the full potential of their ultrasound systems to enhance patient care. ELiTE program consists of 9 modules across key specialties including adult & pediatric echo, critical care (POCUS), and fetal echo amongst others. On successful completion of each module, clinicians are awarded certification and medical council credits by the Karnataka Medical Council. As the technology partner of the ELiTE program, Philips provides its state-of-the-art ultrasound systems and software for the hands-on training of the participants.

“At Philips, we are incredibly proud of the results that ELiTE has achieved within just one year of launch of the program as a dedicated Center of Excellence (CoE) for Echocardiography training in India,” said Sachin Grover, Head of Ultrasound, Philips Indian Subcontinent. “By successfully training over 200 clinicians in just one year, ELiTE has contributed significantly in increasing access to quality healthcare in India. We are grateful to our partners in this initiative, Narayana Health, for sharing our commitment to improving patient outcomes through innovative education and cutting-edge technology,” he added.

“The ELiTE training program was launched with a vision to empower clinicians to excel in echocardiography, establish standards and ensure accurate diagnoses. Echo and POCUS are increasingly being used by physicians from other specialties as a part of their clinical routine. Keeping this in mind along with India’s cardiovascular disease burden, we believe that training programs like ELiTE can play a crucial role in upskilling and familiarizing healthcare professionals with the latest advances in technologies, thereby, improving patient outcomes in the long run,” said Dr. Satish Govind, Chief of Non-Invasive Cardiology, NICS, NH Healthcity, Bengaluru.

This initiative is a part of Philips’ larger commitment to upskill Indian healthcare professionals.
