Ludhiana, India –Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), Ludhiana, the largest multi-specialty hospital in Punjab, today installed the Philips Intellisite Pathology Solution (PIPS), a comprehensive digital pathology Whole Slide Imaging (WSI) system designed to meet the challenges of today’s pathology labs. Installed in the Anatomic Pathology laboratory of the 1600 bed hospital, the solution which represents the latest in medical diagnostic technologies, will fully digitize the diagnostic process for patient tissue examination. The lab was inaugurated by Sh. Prem Kumar Gupta, Secretary, DMCH Managing Society along with Dr. Neena Sood, HOD and other faculty of the histopathology department. By providing digitization solutions, the Philips Intellisite Pathology Solution will enable the hospital, which has a large number of cancer patients, to streamline productivity and ensure better outcomes for patients. This advanced solution will also help DMCH apply smart software to tissue diagnosis, thereby boosting efficiency of pathologists and ensuring accurate and personalized diagnosis. Philips IntelliSite Pathology Solution is an automated FDA validated digital pathology image creation, viewing and management system comprised of an ultra-fast pathology 300 slide scanner, an image management system and multiple display workstations. This solution is complemented by advanced software tools to manage the scanning, storage, presentation, reviewing, and sharing of information. By supporting the transition to digital pathology, Philips seeks to help hospital laboratories simplify sub-specialist expert workflow, much quicker access to secondary opinion and help staff work more efficiently.
This will not only increase potential for using data for education of postgraduate students and consultation between two or more experts but also for research. Its capability to transmit digital slides over distances quickly will enable tele-pathology scenario.
