My family and I are extremely thankful to Philips Healthcare@home for appointing Ikram as a respiratory therapist for my mother (Dr. N Sunanda). She had met a major road accident and got a lung injury. Ikram made an indelible contribution in her recovery. He was 24*7 available to attend to the queries and emergencies. In fact, he began his visits even before my mother was discharged from the hospital.
At the time of her discharge, he coordinated with the hospital staff to guide them on what ambulance set up was needed to transport her. Unfortunately, the ambulance’s ventilation system stopped working while we were taking her home, but Ikram’s presence of mind helped us to mobilize and transfer her home quickly.
When we reached he guided us through the process of setting up a mini-ICU at home. We were clueless about the nuances, but he bridged the gap for us and explained everything in layman terms. He was continually liaising with the pulmonologist, Dr. Vishwanath, at the hospital to ensure things were seamless.
He had been extremely regular throughout the span of 2-3 months and also ensured visits on weekends during the initial days. Because it was a new set up and my mother was struggling with multiple infections and continuous fever. During that phase, he always stood by us and clarified all our queries. His regular Bi-Pap reports shared with Dr. Vishwanath had helped him in knowing my mother’s condition and accordingly guide us better.
His dedication towards my mother had been brilliant. He even managed home visits during personal emergencies at his home. When the oxygen concentrator stopped working twice, he was the one to ensure a replacement within a couple of hours.
In the end, I would like to say that he did a fantastic job. Our life would have been very difficult without him in that phase. Thanks to him for always being there for us.
