May 17, 2011

New Delhi, India – Philips India today announced the launch of its two new ranges of automotive lighting solutions for safe and enhanced driving experience. Strengthening its automotive portfolio, Philips also announced its entry into the all new automotive car air purification system category with the advanced Philips GoPure car cleaning system.

The all new Philips GoPure Automotive Clean Air System offers an advanced filtering technology that removes harmful gases, viruses, bacteria, odor and fine particles from the car and offers a clean, healthy environment throughout the day. Equipped with 3 stage air improvement indicator with LED signature, the new air cleaning system measures the concentration of particulates inside the car and shows how the cabin air improves.

In addition to GoPure, Philips also launched several new automotive lighting solutions – Philips daytime running lamps LED DayLight 4 and LED DayLight 8 and Philips X-tremeVision replacement lamp. Perfect for day-time driving, Philips LED DayLight 4 and LED DayLight 8 ensure an improvement of the car’s visibility to oncoming vehicles or pedestrians, making the driver feel safer and more relaxed and thereby increasing the safety of all road users.

The Philips X-tremeVision replacement lamp provides 100% more light output compared to a standard lamp, thus ensuring the safest night-time driving experience. With its extremely high light output, X-tremeVision helps motorists see oncoming vehicles, pedestrians and obstacles better and earlier, helping to prevent accidents on the road. Also, by ensuring maximum visibility, X-tremeVision prevents the stress, anxiety and fatigue people often feel while driving at night with not enough light.

Speaking on the launch, Sameer Sodhi, Director Automotive Lighting, Southwest Asia – Philips said, “Philips believes in simply enhancing people's life on the move by creating innovative solutions and services that make their means of mobility safer, environment friendly and stylish. We are happy to enter the new category of air purification system with the launch of Philips GoPure which is an advanced filtering technology launched to improve the quality of air in the car. In addition, the launch of Philips DayLight lamps and X-tremeVision lamp will enhance the safety of customers while on the move and ensure an overall safer and more enhanced driving experience.”

Philips GoPure Automotive Air Cleaning System

GoPure is an advanced filtering technology that removes harmful gases, viruses, bacteria and fine particles from inside the car. The 3 Stage filtering process employing a prefilter, HEPA filter and a patented HESA filter helps to remove these pollutants and reduce the odors. The system is equipped with 3 stage air improvement indicator with LED signature that measures the concentration of particulates and shows how the cabin air improves (Normal: Dark Purple, Cleaner: Light Purple, Very Clean: Blue, Filter Replacement Needed: Red). In the car, the air quality is at question as there are suspended particulates matters such as dust, pollen, harmful gasses, bacteria and viruses. Philips GoPure Automotive Clean Air System is easy to operate and is automatically turned on/off with ignition. It also has night driving mode with light sensors for automatic diming to ensure minimal disturbance through glare. Philips GoPure system is priced at INR 12,000.

LED DayLight 4 and LED DayLight 8

Philips’ new DRLs (day time running lamp) – LED DayLight 4 and LED DayLight 8 – ensure an improvement of the cars visibility to oncoming vehicles or pedestrians, making the driver feel safer and more relaxed, which increases the safety of all road users. They substantially increase the visibility of the car to other road users and pedestrians, and have a low energy consumption compared to existing halogen headlamps.

LED DayLight 4 enables motorists to switch from halogen to a LED light source during the daytime and therefore avoid using standard halogen lamps. Cutting back on the use of standard halogen lamps reduces (night-time) their lamp failures and frequent replacements. LED DayLight 4 also enables CO2 savings of 5.5 g per km, while its lifetime of more than 5,000 hours reduces the need for maintenance. LED DayLight 8 can stay on 24/7 thanks to its dimmable function, ensuring that fitted cars are visible at any time of the day or night. At the same time, it appeals to motorists who want to increase their safety while customizing their car with a stylish modern look. LED DayLight 8 also enables CO2 savings of 5.5 g per km and lasts for more than 10,000 hours. LED DayLight4 and LED DayLight8 are priced in the range of INR 6,500 – 10,000.

Philips X-tremeVision

X-tremeVision replacement lamp provides 100% more light output compared to a standard lamp, thus ensuring the safest night-time driving experience. With its extremely high light output, X-tremeVision helps motorists see oncoming vehicles, pedestrians and obstacles better and earlier, helping to prevent accidents on the road. By ensuring maximum visibility, X-tremeVision prevents the stress, anxiety and fatigue people often feel while driving at night with not enough light. X-tremeVision is designed for people who need to replace their damaged lamps or want to upgrade their car lights. Philips X-tremeVision is priced at INR 600.
